Bhubaneswar tourist places; Bhubaneswar is a capital city of Odisha located on the eastern coast of India. The city has a long history and is today a demanding centre for business and religious activity.

Mukteswara temple built in 950 AD, and frequently referred as the “Gem of Orissan Architecture”. The temple has been built on the lines of the Kalinga School of temple architecture. The temple dedicated to Lord Shiva Mukteswara, is carved with facts of ascetics in various poses of meditation and scenes from the store house of Indian fables, the ‘Panchatantra’. It is said that a dip dive in a sacred well to the east of the temple is supposedly a cure for infertility.

Just 8 km away from Bhubaneswar looking down on the plains that bore witness to the horrific war waged on kalinga by the Mauryan king Ashoka, situate the rock edicts of Dhauli. The king Ashoka; full of compassion renounced his blood thirsty campaign and turned to Buddhism. The edicts are a living testimony to the king’s change to heart. He appeal to his administrators to rule the land with justice and compassion. The commandment are so significant that they have been excellently preserved, despite the fact that they date back to the 3rd century BC. The rock edicts are topped by a sculpted elephant, the universal symbol of Lord Buddha. The peace pagoda or the Shanti Stupa, construct through the Indo-Japanese association, is situated on the opposite hill.

The Sun Temple at Konark with fantastic isolation on the sand dunes of the Bay of and is a breath taking monument. It is a stunning master piece of the 13th century and A UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is replete with erotic statue, human beings in various forms and activities, representation of flora and fauna, long scroll of elephants, beasts and birds and life size images of damsels playing on musical instruments in unusual rapture, the monument stylized as it is, brings a sensuous beauty and creates a dream land for the visitors. Dedicated to the lord sun or Surya, the first rays of the sun fall on the doorway of the temple. One can definitely will pause looking at those monuments praising them at least for few seconds. The temple presents this iconography on a grand scale. It has 24 ornately carved stone wheels which are nearly 3.7 m in diameter and are pulled by a set of seven horses. It is such a wonderful historical place with tourist guides.

The temple of Lingaraj by far the most prominent temple not only of Bhubaneswar but also of Odisha, and according to expert viewpoint is also one of the best archaeological statue of the East. Rising to a height of about 180 feet and dominating the entire landscape within an area of about 10 miles, this great temple represents the essence of the Kalinga type of architecture and the concluded result of the architectural activities at Bhubaneswar. It is situated in the center of a numbers of smaller temples within a large compound of laterite measuring 520 feet in length and 465 feet in width and having gates on the east, north & south.

Rajarani temple is very famous temple in Bhuneshwr, Odisha and It was built in 1050 ad. The Rajarani temple  seems stands alone in a green field. It is one of the latest of the  Bhuabneswar temples and  is  particularly  finely sited. It is  an essay  in grace  and poise  and  is  particularly  interesting in that  it has  no presiding deity. The name of  this  temple is supposed to be  derived  from  the  red  gold  sand stone used – Rajarani being the local name for the stone.

This temple built in 650 ad is one of the few earliest temples of bhubaneswar. This temple built in kalinga style of temple architecture was dedicated to lord shiva but there are images of lord Vishnu, Yama, Surya and seven mother  goddesses. it is liberally sculpted in typical fashion with amorous couples, animals and floral motifs.

Vaitul Deul is the shrine of Chamunda(a tantric form of the Goddess of Kali) or Shakti. It’s based on a fusion of two architectural styles – Oriya & South Indian – and so looks somewhat different from the other temples in Bhubaneswar. The niches on the inner wall depict equally miraculous images along with scenes of tantric tradition. It is the first of the temples to depict erotic sculptures, it is also unique in that the outer surface of the vault is plain while profusely embellished on the side.

It is spread out in four districts of Odisha which is Angul, Budh, Cuttack and Nayagarh with spread over 796 square km. It was established in 1976 in Bhuneshwar,  Odisha. It is 220 km away from Bhuneshwar with good connectivity with other major railway station. The sanctuary is popular for its dry deciduous forests and moist peninsular Sal forests. A variety of fauna such as Leopard, Elephant, Sambar, Gaur, Spotted Deer, Deer, Nilgai, Sloth Bear, and Wild Dog can be spotted here. The sanctuary is also home to a migratory birds and wide variety of resident, reptilian species, Fresh Water Turtle, Snakes etc. A Gharial Research and Conservation Unit at Tikarapada in the sanctuary is one of its characteristic features. There are some facility for recreation, resort, including beach volleyball, walking to Eco- village, bathing in the crystal clear blue water of Mahanadi, folk dances in the evening and boating in the deep gorgeous of Mahanadi.

Pathani Samanta Planetarium is a planetarium in  Bhubaneswar, Odisha in India. The planetarium was established by Science and Technology Department, Government of Odisha for creating awareness about a carries on activities like night sky viewing, audio visual programs and poster shows. The show runs in English, Hindi and Odiya language. It also displays various astronomical devices.

The place is popular for its arts, history, and craft as this museum showing the Odisha’s culture and glorious history. It is situated in the center or heart of the city Bhuneswar.  This place is easily accessible from railway station as busses or auto are available always. This museum is established in 1932 after shifted to current building in 1960. It is very well maintained and the inner area of the ground is full of greenery and flowers. There is also more than hundreds rare statues of century old, rare coins, paintings, epigraphy, literature and handwork. The ticket fare is ₹20 for adults and they charge extra ₹10 for the ticket for taking photographs.

It is located centrally in Bhuneshwar and 4 km from Bhuneshwar railway station. A wonderful place for every aged people to see real preserved skeletons & skin stuffed animal model Collections of different animal and aquatic species. It is  well maintained and clean-air-conditioned facility with drinking water and toilet facilities available. There is no entry fee but visitors has to give name and phone no. A good initiative taken by Odisha govt for people to get more knowledge and information about our forest ecosystem and fossils.

It is located centrally in the city Bhuneshwar and 7 km from Bhuneshwar railway station. It was established in 1953. It is well maintained and clean museum. Interior of the museum is also well maintained and the exhibit is divided into many rooms each describes one portion of the tribal culture such as tools, musical instruments, clothing etc. This Museum is an integral part of the SCSTRTI-Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute. The main aim of the museum is to promote and protec the Tribal culture of the city Odisha. It is recognized as the best museum among the 21 Tribal Museums in India by UNESCO in the year 2010. The museum is divided into five different halls, each describing an aspect from the lifestyle of the local tribes. The Museum of Tribal Art and Artifacts currently stores about 2,247 artifacts. It is a place of peace, good food as well as a museum having all the tribal thing that our forefathers are using at that time like hunting implements, fishing nets, dresses, weapons of offense and defence, agriculture tools, household objects, personal belongings, tribal art, photographs and terracotta items in the archive. Traditional costumes such as phute sari of the Santhals, the  ringa of the Bonda tribe, and gatungkap of Lanjia Saora can be seen at the museum.

It is beautiful zoological park which spread in 12 km area in Bhuneshwar. Visitors can enjoy greenery of Nature and different kind of species, Reptiles, Birds etc. The main attraction of this zoological park is white Tiger. One can enjoy the jungle safari where visitors can see white tigers, lions as well as bears. The “Nandankanan”  maintained imaginary beauty of the celestial garden. It has the glory of having  41 mammals, 83 birds, 26  reptiles and 6  amphibians. Nandankanan has huge number of animal collections. It has a nice garden too. Tourists enjoy the natural movement of animals in this park. The staffs and guards are very caring and helpful.

These are marvelous ancient caves which depicts our history about our ancestors and it is well maintain by archeological survey of India. The place is very near to the central bus depot of Bhubaneswar. One of the most visited tourist destinations of bhubanaeswar. These two caves are listed on historical places of india. They are just opposite to each other. Udaigiri caves have a garden and is maintained by government of india. Udaygiri there are no entry charges, You have to climb a couple of stairs to reach the top. There is a temple which you must visit. The view from the Udaygiri is pretty amazing. You can just sit at the place with a cup of tea and enjoy the beauty. You can also get food for the monkeys and feed them. In Khandagiri you have to pay 20 Rs (The rate is only for Indian, For foreigners the rate is different) per person to enter, The caves in Khandagiri is much prettier. You should watch the statues and caves as there is much information about the old days. You can also visit the nearby JAYDEV VATIKA mostly known for its scenic beauty and is centre for many ollywood movie shooting. One can have street food over here. Drink cocunuts, eat cucumbers and famous Dahibara Aludam. The parking can accommodate more than 50 buses at a time. If u visit the place try not to litter. Use public toilet in case of bathroon. Be aware of monkeys over here, theysnatch your belonging .You can feed them with nuts. The best time visit this place in winter season.
