Historic Catholic church in tranquil surrounds with dioramas depicting the Stations of the Cross. The church is built in the typical British architecture, known as the prominent monument of Dalhousie, the St. Francis Church was constructed in the year 1894. Its also named as  Alvera, also referred to as
‘Lambe-wale padre ki kothi’, Probably due to the tall Belgian priests from Lahore who lived here for a while. Its being remained opened from morning 7 am to evening 7 pm, opens all days of week. The major attractions of this church include beautiful glass work along with intricate stone work of monuments. It’s located in Gandhi Chowk 2 kms from bus stand. Built in 1863, this British-style Protestant church features glass paintings of Saints John & Peter. It is the oldest church in Dalhousie and assumes not only religious significance but has much historical significance too. Sunday Service performed at the St John’s Church is attended by the locals and tourists alike. It tends to be beautiful photo sessions because of the steady mix of beauty and history of a outlook of a church. The church looks magnificent in the dim ambient night lighting. Trekking enthusiasts start trekking from Dalhousie city and it takes almost an hour from the city center to trek through the hilly terrain to reach the summit of this hill.
