Daman and Diu is an island off the southern coast of the Kathiawar peninsula of Gujarat in India.

Diu is along a coastal length of 21 km and is around 768 km. Diu is surrounded by the famous Gir-Somnath and Amreli districts of Gujarat in the north and the Arabian Sea on three sides.

It is connected to the mainland through two bridges over the river. The nearest railway station is Delwara at a distance of 9 km from Diu, it is easily accessible. But important trains are connected to Veraval,

it is 90 km from Diu. A part of the district of Diu is on the mainland known as Ghoghla, which has good transport facilities.

Diu Fort is located on the western coast of India, in the Dao region of Daman and Diu Union Territory. The Diu fort is also known locally as Portuguese fort. The city of Diu is located at the western end of the fort. The Diu fort can easily accessible just getting down from the bus, after crossing the Ghoghla Bridge, you see the jetty Ghat in front of you. This fort was built here during the Portuguese colonial period. Its construction began in the year when Sultan Bahadur Shah of Gujarat at that time made a defense treaty this wonders with the Portuguese to avoid attempts by the Humayun Emperor of the Mughal Empire to subdue the area. Until this year, the work of strengthening the fort continued yet.  The Tourist Office is on the left and the one km long Fort Road on the right and the other side on the left of the road is the backwater of the Arabian Sea. Diu fort is also flanked by a charming garden even on the right are series of hotels and houses are available good facilities for accommodation. Best place and worth to visit over here.

Pani Kotha, Diu

Pani Kotha is located at Diu on the west coast of India. Pani Kotha can be easily accessible which is just at a distance of 3 km from Diu Bus Station local busses are available on timely manner, Pani Kotha is a small ruined fort located on an islet in the Arabian Sea near Diu. Pani Kotha Fort is a beautiful stone structure in the sea shore, built right at the mouth of the creek. It was built during the Muslim domain by Malik Aiyaz which is an ancient building and it served as an entry post to control the movement of the Merchant Ships entering Diu for trading. This is also served as the jail during the Portuguese colonial rule, hence it is famed very much as well. The fort also has barracks for the inmates at those times, a warehouse also can be seen, cistern and residence for the Commander still exists. Besides these, there is a lighthouse built on the Menagem Bastion which is awesome especially during night time. There is no entry fee can visit from morning 8 am to till evening 6 pm, opens all days of the week.

The Diu Museum is located in Diu, Daman and Diu in India. It is a beautiful historical monument, which already had the church of St. Thomas, the Diu Museum is one of the historical monuments which was an important symbol of the previous Portuguese rule. The church or museum has wooden sculptures dating back to the sixteenth century AD during the Portuguese reign. Though the museum is small, it displays the sculpture as rich as it was then. The museum is built with very old wood and stones that are magnificent that have been collected from churches that probably collapsed. Nice for a quick visit to admire the building and the carving inside is really amazing. It is very well maintained as a lovely garden especially the turtle statue looks amazing even many other statues are present here. The Diu Museum has many inscriptions of ancient rulers, ancient sculptures, multi-colored fountains, wood carvings and sculptures that reflect the rich past of the region. It also preserves 400-year-old wooden and marble ancient statues of St. Thomas and St. Benedict that are beautified by special lighting outside the building during the night. Sham Diu transforms the museum from multicolored lights into an enchanting sight and attracts gracefully. No photography is allowed from inside any old church, but is a great place to visit.

Jalandhar  Beach, Diu

Diu By Air: 

Diu airport (DIU) is major airport  and is well connected with Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai is 170 km and is located centerally. One can book Taxi, Share Taxi or Cab to reach their Hotels.

Diu By Train: 

There are no regular trains from other major cities to Diu. Nearest railway station is Somnath (SMNH), somnath, Gujarat with 63km away, Veraval(VRL) Gujrat with 67 km away. One can take state bus or private bus to reach this place from Varaval Railway station.


Diu By Bus:

State owned buses run on regular basis and one can choose from various types of buses according to their convenience. Private buses are also available which will take you directly to Diu. It is located Centrally from their one can book Taxi, cab to the hotels or desire location.

Diu Self Drive:

Car is the best option as you can explore more and as their own choice. The nearest place are Gujrat, Ahemedabad, Bombay tec.
