Deoghar tourist places; Situated in northeastern Jharkhand, Deoghar is a major Hindu pilgrimage. It has the antique temple of Baba Baidyanath, which is one of the twelve ‘jyotirlingas’ in India.

Deoghar located in the Santhal Parganas of Jharkhand, is a very important piligram Centre. It`s famous for the Hindus for the temple of Shiva-Baidyanath and the place is a famous holiday Centre.

Deoghar is a Hindi word and the accurate meaning of ‘Deoghar’ is abode (‘ghar’) of the Gods and Goddesses (‘dev’).Deoghar is an ancient town famous for its group of 22 temples devoted to the Hindu god Shiva.

The sanctity of Deoghar lies in its legend of Ravana who went all the way to Mount Kailash, pleading Shiva to make Lanka his hoe.

Ravana’s other was an passionate devotee of Shiva and she worshipped a Shivling made of clay, which soon dissolved with daily pouring of water over it.

This prompted Ravana to implore Shiva if he would reside in Lanka.

Lord Shiva did not consent to Ravana’s prayer but offered him one of twelve emblems of his divinity (Jyotiralinga) which would be quite as effective and that he might take it away on the condition that the transfer should be affected without breaking the journey.

Moreover if the linga was placed elsewhere on earth during the journey, it would remain fixed on that spot forever.

As per one of the story once upon a time there was a farmer by the name of Basuki.

He was ploughing his field and suddenly the tip of his plough got stuck on a stone and there was a flow of milk.

He got scared and started running with fear but suddenly there was an aerial voice which said  “Don’t be afraid,

I am Shiva, just bring me out and start worshipping me with full faith, love and devotion” since then Lord Shiva is worshipped here as Lord Basukinath.

It is said that the puja at Baba Baidhynath ji is incomplete without worshipping Baba Basukinath.

Hence the kaanwariyas take two pots of Ganga Jal from Sultanganj and offer one at Baidhynath Baba and another at Basukinath Baba.

Then only the puja gets completed.The temple is situated 42 kms from Deoghar in Dumka district and there are regular buses running.

Near the temple is Shivganga or the holy pond where devotees take a holy dip before offering prayers at Basukinath Baba.

Milk is the favourite offering to Bholenaath and there are Rudraabhishek of Milk and it turns out to be a huge pond of milk only.

Inside the temple premise is the main temple of Basukinath Baba and just infront is the Mata Parvati temple.

The entire atmosphere is filled with holy chanting of Lord Shiva, Bol Bom. HAR HAR Mahadev. 

Pandas here will take you for puja with minimum Dakshina and later make you promise or do sankalap for various offerings.

Just speak to them initially only Adjacent to the temple is small bazaar selling food items, lovely pedas, aachars, nice kullhar tea and other devotional items.

Nawlakha Temple, Deoghar tourist places

It is located arround 2 km from Baba Baidyanath Temple and wonderfull spiritual place.

It is a nice place for history lovers who like to visit ancient temples. This is one of the iconic temples in Deoghar with a large lake and plantation area.

The temple is huge with multiple balconies. The temple is also well furnished with white marbles.

This temple is at good and peacefully place and this temple was made in 1932 in arround of rupees of 9 lakh. Hence it is popular as Naulakha Temple.

As the name suggests there are three mountains named after Thridev of hindu religion Bramha, Bishnu(narayana) And Maheshawar(shiva).

A perfect place where you can see mixture of modern day adventure and old hindu puran stories.

The trekking upto the Narayan Shila means the summit of the highest mountain(which is named after narayan) from the rope way station is a nice experience.

At the summit there is a round rock balanced itself like a manner which is just unbelievable and there is small gap below it from where a human can pass through, the round rock is worshiped as Narayan shila and the priests say that if some one pass through that gap under the shila then he or she will get rid of Saptagrahadosh.

The place is totally adventurous and the view from the top of the mountain is remarkable.

Tapovan Hill, Deoghar tourist places

Tapovan is a place where one must visit while visiting holy town of Deoghar. Take a guide, charges Rs 200 approx per group, they will take you & will explain you the history of this mountain.

You will find Langoor/Hanuman/Monkey here, they are quite friendly. Don’t forget to bring biscuits/Fruits/snacks to feed them(else you need to purchase from local vendor which is overpriced with very small quantity).

One can able to enjoy the beauty of these animals with a distance of 1 feet, they will eat from your hand whatever you offer them & you can also click pics with them.

Infact, they will stand/sit on your shoulder while eating & believe me, will not harm you. Bring for them chana/badam/banana/biscuits will be great. There are numbers of temples on the way of hill, so carry coins/small currency notes to offer in the temples.

Apart from being one of the best and most reputed schools of India, it is one of the most beautiful tourist spots in Deoghar.

Ramakrishna Mission (RKM) runs many social welfare activities wherever the mission has an establishment. RKM Deoghar is very old in the list. It runs a reputed school in its premises in Deoghar.

Nandan Pahar, Deoghar tourist places

It is consider as the heart of Deoghar tourist places. It is big park located in mountain and very attractive place for family tour especially for children.

The view of Deoghar City from top of mountain gives a awesome view. This place is near from Baba Baidyanath dham mandir in deoghar, and around 3 km away from tower chowk or main market area.

Nandan pahar is basically an amusement park with boating facility some of the main attraction here are toy train,children’s park, Boat ride etc.

Entry free is 10/- but entering to this park you need to climb 100 stairs which is difficult for aged people.

One can enjoy awesome view from top and can see the entire Deoghar city. It is well maintained with tress, fountain and murals.

Timing is  from 10am to 7 pm.

Thakur banglo is situated in a large area where thousands of people can take part in the morning and evening prayer.

It is situated in Deoghar in the Santhal Parganas division of the indian state Jharkhand. It is consider as one of the most important spiritual places in Deoghar tourist places.

It is a temple complex consisting of the main temple of Baba Baidyanath, where the Jyotirlinga is installed, and 21 other more temples.

It is one of the 12 Jyotrlingas of Lord Shiva. The management has made an arrangement in such an order that a huge crowd of devotees is managed easily till the Center Hall of the temple.

Outside the center Hall everything is going well. It is consider as the most blessed place by Lord Shiva in Jharkhand and Lord Shiva is in the form of ‘Baba Baidyanath’. It is also known as ‘Kamna Linga’.

Devotees consider as every wishes made by bottom of heart is fulfilled here. It is the only pilgrimage where both Shiva and Sati can be found.

Mahakal Bhairav is also present here. Ma Kali, Ma Tara all are here. It is the only pilgrimage where Ganga Jal is offered to Shiva by covering the distance of 105Kms.

One can feel blessed here and all worries left as they stepped in the premises. There is also Shivganga where one has to take a holly deep before offering Jal to Baba Baidyanath.

It is believed that it is the same Shiva Linga which was taken by Demon king Ravana to Lanka. But as Lord Ganesha did leela and Ravana felt pee and the Linga was kept their on the ground and be established. This is the same place. All the palce nearby is blessed too.

Deoghar By Air:

Patna Airport(PAT), Patna 250 km, Birsa Munda airport (IXR), Ranchi 276 km away and is well connected with other major city like Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, New Delhi and major part of other states. Direct Busses is available to reach Deoghar from Nearest bus stand in Patna or Ranchi.

Deoghar By Train:

      Deoghar railway station(DGHR) is the main railway station of Deoghar with good connectivity with other major railway station. Cabs, taxis and public transport can be used to reach the Hotels or desire location.

Deoghar By Bus:

       Deoghar bus stand provide good connectivity with other major state like Bihar, Odisha,West Bengal etc. Offline and Online bus service are also available.
