Umananda Temple is situated in the world’s smallest river island in the banks of river Brahmaputra. To reach Temple take ferry from Uzan Bazar ghat and see beautiful river view.

It takes 10-15 minutes to reach the island. It is must visit destination after Kamkhya.

Lord Mahadev is worshiped here as main deity above the hills on this island in form of shivling.

Umnanda find its mention in mythology too there are various tales regarding this island and how this temple came into existence over periods of time.

To travel this island-cum temple you need to have a ticket of ferry services which charges around Rs 20 per way for 1 person.

After deboarding, there are few steps uphill to climb and get into the temple.

The best time to get there is between 5-6 PM to watch the sunset.

You will love this place so much mainly the ferry services and Cool fresh breeze of Brahmaputra river.

Manas National Park or Manas Wildlife Sanctuary is a national park, UNESCO Natural World Heritage site in Assam.

It is a project Tiger reserve, an elephant reserve and a biosphere reserve in Assam, India.

Manas National Park located about 176-kilometer distance from Guwahati in Assam, is an house to some of the most astounding wildlife species.

This national park is situated on the Indo-Bhutan Border just below the foothills of Bhutan.

A portion of the park falls in Bhutan and that part is known as Royal Manas National Park. This park houses the rare golden langues, pygmy hog, elephants, buffaloes, deer, and rhinos.

There are also a few tigers in this park but these are rarely sighted by the tourists.

The park is a bird lovers paradise with hundreds of species such as hornbills and peacocks.

One can hear the peacocks calling from outside the park in early morning. The park is open for visitors from November to April.

In order to visit this park, one has to book an elephant ride or a jeep safari as walking inside the park is not allowed.

The Manas River flows through the park. The view of the blue crystal clear water of the river is really astonishing.

One can undertake rafting in this river. There are a number of resorts near the park where one can make an overnight stay.

The Manas National Park happens to be a paradise for nature lovers.

This is a pilgrimage site near Hajo. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and was built in the 18th century. There is also a pond within the temple compound where pilgrims use to wash their hands, feet and face before entering the temple. Build by Ahom king Rajeshwar Sinha in 1753, the LING over here is in Ardhnareswar form. The temple is located in a hillock named Madanchola, you will find greeneries surrounding the temple which adds the beauty of the place. The temple premises are neat and clean and there is also picnic spot down the temple. It is perfect place for peace and nature lover, also a great destination for family and friends to enjoy the weekends.

This is a must visit temple in Assam. It is situated in Hajo, which is 35 km from Guwahati. Very peaceful temple. This is a very old temple, which is constructed in 1583. This is a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. This temple is located on the top of a small  hill called Monikut and one has to climb a number of steps inorder to reach this temple. Opposite to the temple gate, there is a big pond full of turtles and fishes. Pilgrims visiting the temple offer puffed rice as feed to these aquatic species.  Near the entrance to the temple, there are a number of kiosks run by local people selling items of offering that can be offered at the temple.

The Kamakhya Temple, located on the Nilachal hill on the south bank of Brahmaputra, and it is about 5kms from Guwahati is considered to be one of the famous pithasthans (sacred places) of India. During the Ambubashi Festival which occurs during the monsoon period, there is a great rush of pilgrims to Kamakhya from all over the country. The Temple is famous as the centre of Shaktiworship. A motorable road wirds its way up the Temple. From the top of the Hill, a panoramic view of Guwahati and Brahmaputra can be witnessed.

The Assam State Museum was established by the Kamrup Anusandhan Samiti in 1940 and was formally inaugurated by the Governor of Assam. Late Kanklal Baruah was founder president. In the year 1953, it was taken over by the State Govt. The exhibits of the Museum are displayed under different sections, (1) Epigraphy, (2) Sculptures, (3) Miscellaneous, (4) Natural  History, (5) Crafts, (6) Anthropology & Folk Art & (7) Arms section. The Arms and Ammunition gallery is present in the groundfloor and is to the right when you enter the museum. There is also section of excavated idols and the miniature version of village life setup. The auditorium within the museum conducts some programs on special occasion.

Kaziranga National Park is the pride of our state. It’s a very nice place to visit with family and friends. You can do Jeep Safari or Elephant Safari here. One can see various animals including the One Horn Rhino. Elephants, Deers and Monkeys are the common animals seen here. But you also find wild elephants, buffaloes, deer and predators like tigers and leopards. Many different types of birds including eagles, pelicans and storks. Kaziranga National Park is a pride of state and nation and also sheltered area in the northeast Indian state of Assam. It is stretch across the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, its forests, wetlands and grasslands are home to tigers, elephants and the world’s largest population of Indian one-horned rhinoceroses.
