This is the best place to visit but make sure that you are in a good health conditions because it takes 3-4 hours to reach this waterfall from the parking.

The way to reach this fall is full of steep steps approximately 3500 or more. When you reach the waterfall what you really want to do is to cool yourself first in the cool waterfall.

There is double decker bridge on the way to this waterfall.Along the path to this waterfall what we can see is the beautiful forest which produces beautiful fragrance form the leaves of spices trees and the beautiful rivers.

This is one of the best tourist  attractions in Cherrapunji. Deep caves with limestone creations welcome you here. Its properly lit and relatively safe.

However you have to be careful as some places you have to bend your head, crawl and even walk on bamboo poles. You will find water dripping at various places inside the cave whic makes it more slippery.

Entry fee is Rs.20 per head for adults while for children(below 10yrs),it is Rs.5.They charge for camera,mobile extra at Rs.20.

The Eco Park has been maintained and designed by the government of Meghalaya to facilitate traveler to enjoy the Green Canyons of Sohra as well as the Seven sister waterfalls that lie around it.

There is a small garden for kids and flowing water for all to play with. One can clearly listen the sound of falling water and if possible get a chance to see the cloud.

There are some restaurants in the park also where one can refresh yourself. There are places from where you can get amazing view of entire Park. There is a stream inside the garden and one has to cross a bridge to get near the canyon.

The picturesque beauty from the edge is splendid. On the opposite side of the Eco Park is a view point to see the Bangladesh plains. It is a beautiful place to spend some quality time with your love one.

Nohkalikai Falls is considered as the tallest waterfall in Meghalaya and India. The main attraction of the water fall is the height and the water falling from 340 metres or 1115ft height, make this fall amazine.

Situated at a distance of 7 km from Cherrapunji town, this is a must-visit Meghalaya tourist spot. It is easy to reach, One can rent a scooty or bike or a private car which would cost around 700-2000 for a day’s trip to famous sites.

Once you reach this destination you have to do a trekking down to reach to see the amazing waterfall which is the crest of the waterfall. Though the entire journey till the waterfall is very tiring and you have to have proper shoes and stuffs with you to trek down through deep jungle, cross boulders and man made twig small bridges often but the journey itself to the crest point is a memorable one for Adventure loving person otherwise don’t try to think go down if you have any health issues.

Once you reach down you will get crystal clear water which is drinkable and beautiful nature to cherish the calmness and serenity which you can enjoy for hours long forgetting about the world behind.

Weisawdong fall- This is one of the hidden waterfall in Meghalaya and one of the most beautiful waterfall. It’s a three step water fall one has to cross steep road to get to this waterfall.

There are two viewing points the trail which takes you to the second one is a wee bit tough but worth the effort. Certainly its a paradise for photographers.

It is a view point on the way to cherrapunjee, just aside the road. One can park their vehicle, take some pictures and move ahead. It’s situated at the end of the valley and on a clear day you can see for 10s of kilometers.

The rolling clouds give it a surreal feel and the view is awesome. You can pay a small ticket and go down to the deducted viewpoint or you can just view it from the road. You can grab some small bites at the stalls and restaurants just next to the parking.

The waterfall derives its name from a Thlen (Khasi word for Python). As per the legend, people decided to rid themselves of evil, captured the Thlen and killed it at the wide flat rock over-looking the fall. Adjacent to the very spot where the Thlen was slaughtered lies the Dain-thlen Waterfalls.

Natural rock carvings of the episode draw visitors to see the image of the Thlen, the symbol of greed, corruption and evil.

How to Reach Meghalaya Cherrapunji

Meghalaya Cherrapunji By Air:

Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport(GAU) it is located around 110 km away from Shillong. One can book Goverrment Busses, share taxi or Cab available to reach their Shillong, it takes 3-4 hr to reach. Shillong Airport, Shillong(SHL) has a limited flight and is small airport. Better to take flight to Guwahati or reach by train. Shillong to Cherrapunji 55 km away, One can book tourist cab or Car to reach Cherrapunji.

Meghalaya Cherrapunji By Train:

Guwahati railway station(GHY) is the nearest railway station situated at a distance of 105 Km from Shillong and cover cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahemdabad, Kolkata etc. Cabs, taxis and public transport can be used to reach the Hotels or desire location. Shillong to Cherrapunji 55 km away, One can book tourist cab or Car to reach Cherrapunji.

Meghalaya Cherrapunji By Bus:

Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) and Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) run buses from Guwahati to Shillong. The main interstate bus stand is located near to Guwahati railway station and You can take a bus from Guwahati to Shillong. Police Bazar is center location where busses drop to passengers, where visitors book Hotels and car also. Shillong to Cherrapunji 55 km away, One can book tourist cab or Car to reach Cherrapunji.

Best Time To Visit Meghalaya Cherrapunji

1st Rainy Season (April – May): The summer months here are marked by rainfall and sunshine. Rains are a frequent visitor to the sunshine. It rains almost everyday, but never all the time. You get more sun than rain in a day. But you always need to carry an umbrella. The waterfalls begin to see some action. When it doesn’t rain, the parks are beautiful. Temperature ranges from 13°c – 28°c. You get both clear skies and thick clouds all in a day. You get to experience all seasons of the year in a day during this season. The nights are cold, the days are hot and sometimes wet. This season is also ideal for kids and Adults. The waterfalls have only just started to fall again, all other tourist hotspots are accessible. The caves may start to get a little slippery.

2nd Rainy Season (June – August): June, July and August see the most rain here in Cherrapunji. Most days during this time are marked by continuous rainfall. Temperature drops to 12°c – 19°c. The heavy rains and the thick clouds sometimes make it impossible to see sights. But sometimes, the sun would creep out despite all of it. The caves sometimes are clogged with water so it may be a little challenging to pass through. The living root bridges are beautiful, maybe a little dangerous for kids. The natural swimming pools can be dangerous. The waterfalls are visible a few times a day. If you go out to the parks while the sun shows, it’s likely the rain will catch up on you by the time you had your picnic. This season is ideal for adventurists. Taking your kids to the caves and the bridges may be a little dangerous. The waterfalls are majestic during this time. Most times, you will feel like you’re walking among the clouds.

Semi-Dry Season (September – October): The rains start to go away, becoming infrequent visitors. The waterfalls still retain their waters. The clouds linger on. The current of the water beneath the living root bridges begin to go away. You get more sun than rain. But it’s never hot. This season is ideal for all. You get the waterfalls, the caves, the bridges, all of it. In fact, October is the ideal month to visit Cherrapunji.

                The most ideal way to visit Cherrapunji is by doing a two-day and a one night stay. Book your hotel near Nohkalikai Falls or Cherrapunji town which is located centrally. From there you can book Hotel, and taxi for stay and sightseeing also. It is also enable you to easy check-in and check-out option. Choose your itinerary as you are comfortable, It means if you reach eary pick full-Day tour. If you reach Noon or Evening choose short day tour.

** Day 1- 1st Day need to reach Double decker root bridge, which almost 3km trekking and after Rainbow fall which also 3 km trekking. So one has to spend whole day here.
**Day 2 – 2nd Day, Book full day tourist cab or car, they cover almost all popular area for sightseeing.
