Gun Hill is the second largest point of standing at a height of 2024 meters in the entire area of ​​Mussoorie! The Everest House, also known as ‘The Park Estate’, is the former home, observatory and laboratory of India’s Surveyor General Sir George Everest. This building used to be an observatory to see the mountains demarcating the boundaries of British India and to measure the height of the highest peaks in the world. In the form of a Great Trigonometric Survey for his work and contribution in the world’s highest mountain known as Peak XV, it was later named as Mount Everest after Sir George Everest. Varesthas House is situated about 8 km from the famous tourist city of Mussoorie and is only a short distance away. At the end of the cargo road in Mussoorie, a taxi can be rented to Gandhi Chowk from a place called Hathipond, which is at the foot of hill, on which the building is standing. The road ahead from Hathipot is a rough and narrow dirt road. Many tourists rent a bike from the city of Mussoorie and ride up to the top. At an altitude of 9.5 km from the Library Bus Stand, Jwalavi Temple is an ancient temple situated at the top of the Benong Dibba at an altitude of 2100 meters in Mussoorie. Dedicated to Goddess Durga, this beautiful temple has a stone statue of Goddess in the inner sanctum. The temple site is surrounded by hills, lush greenery and small streams. Every year thousands of devotees come to this temple to take blessings of Goddess Durga. The Mussoorie Christ Church is a peaceful historical and religious place that is very close to the bustling Mall Road. Built in 1836, this church is considered to be the oldest church in the Himalayan region. It is located slightly above the freight road near Cascada Palace and can easily be reached on foot. The church is quite old and still stands very beautifully with its gothic architecture and beauty. One can see wonderful views of the mountains surrounded by Dulan valley and church premises. Beautifully decorated glass windows adorn the church building, which reflects the life story of Christ. Happy Valley is a big Tibetan township in Mussoorie, 2.5 km from Library bus stand. This house is also famous for the IAS Academy, Tibetan temples and municipal gardens. The Happy Valley Library starts from the west side of the point and goes to the end of the cloud. The Happy Valley, also called Mini-Tibet, is home to around 5000 Tibetan refugees. It is one of the top sights of Mussoorie. In 1959, when the 14th Dalai Lama took refuge in Mussoorie, several Tibetans came here and since then this valley has been serving as their home. Later, the exile of the Tibetan government went to the Dharamshala of Himachal Pradesh but they left behind a strong community of Tibetans who today became an integral part of the Mussoorie culture. If the Buddhist Temple and the Tibetan Holmes Foundation continue the legacy of beautiful Tibetan culture in Mussuri. In the year 1960, the Government of India opened the Kendriya Vidyalaya for Tibetans for the Tibetan children in Happy Valley, which still remains as a prestigious school. Mahapandit Rahul Sankrityan, also known as the father of Hindi travel literature, lived with his family for a few years at the Dispensary Building of the present Central School. The city is situated in a green surroundings. Shedup Choephelling Temple is situated at the highest point of the valley over a rock. It was the first Tibetan temple to be built in India and protected by the Dalai Lama. This is a major tourist attraction in Mussoorie and it is a wonderful example of Tibetan architecture. Attractive illustrations, artifacts and antiques, tell stories of people about places and events shaping the future of Mussoorie. It was opened in November 2013, and in addition to the exhibition of the real historical collection, the center often takes people to the actual heritage around Mussoorie. One can also buy handicrafts and other special items made by local people from the center. The Center also imposes an exhibition related to the history, heritage and culture of Mussoorie from time to time.

Sukhanda Devi-By Ropway, Mussoorie tourist places

At a distance of 34 km from Mussoorie, 7 km from Dhanoli and 35 km from New Tehri, Surkanda Devi Temple is located in Kadkukhal village near Kanatal on Chamba-Dhanoli road in Tehri district. Surkanda Devi temple is dedicated to Goddess Parvati Devi. It is also a part of the popular Goddess Darshan Triangle which includes Chandrabadni and Kunjapuri. Sukanda Devi Temple, located at an altitude of about 10,000 feet, provides a 360-degree view of the Himalaya’s Garhwal area, Dehradun valley as well as snow-covered peaks. The temple is surrounded by a thick forest and offers beautiful beauty here. The surrounding area It offers a beautiful view of Dehradun, Rishikesh, Chandrabadni, Pratapnagar and Chakrata. Various types of flowers and native herbs are grown here in abundance and some beautiful birds of western Himalayas are also found in the neighborhood. Ganga Dashwara festival is celebrated every year between May and June and attracts a large number of devotees. Surkanda Devi temple demands about 2 km trek from Kadukhal village. Musoorie By Airport:

Jollygrant Airport in Dehradun serves as the nearest airport to Mussoorie. Direct flights from Delhi and Mumbai are available  till Dehradun. Local taxis or buses can be hired to reach Mussoorie from Dehradun. Otherwise, visitors can board a flight till Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, second nearest airport to Mussorie, which offers good air connectivity with rest of India and then travel to Mussoorie by bus or car.

Musoorie By Bus:

There are many state government and private buses connecting Mussooriewith nearby places such as Dehradun, Delhi and major towns of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. There are overnight deluxe, Volvo and normal bus services, available from ISBT Kashmiri Gate in Delhi.

Musoorie By Railway:

Dehradun Railway Station, located around 36 km away serves as the nearest railway station to Mussoorie. After reaching Dehradun by train, visitors can board local taxis or buses for Mussoorie.

Musoorie By Self Driven Car:

When travelling from Delhi, you need to take NH58 till Roorkee (via Meerut and Muzzafarnagar), and NH72-A till Dehradun. Thereon, follow the state highway (known as the New Mussoorie Road) to Mussoorie.
