Bhongir Fort is situated amidst the Nalgonda city. It is a very beautiful place in Nalgonda situated in area of 50 acres and at a height of 900 ft. There are 4 ponds inside it, which are never drying. It is situate on huge rock with arround 1000 steps and can enjoy the trek to reach top of the rock.

This fort is located at top of the massive rock formation. It is one of the great historical place in Nalgonda and Telangana. It takes around 45 to 60 minutes to reach at the top and feel the refreshes once you reach at top with pleasant breeze.

Deverakonda Fort, Nalgonda tourist places

Deverakonda Fort is a very popular fort in Telangana. It was built by the Velama Kings in the 14th century. This fort is famous for its architectural brilliance. The fort is surrounded by seven hills with some magnificent rocks and boulders and some forests.

Pillalamari, Nalgonda tourist places

Pillalamari city is located 4 km away from Mahabubnagar. This city is very popular among tourists due to its Pillalamari temple and Pillalamari Banyan tree. The Pillalamari temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. 800 year old Banyan tree which supposed to be world’s second largest Banyan tree located here.

It’s open from 9.30am- 6pm. There is also a small zoo park there with deers, crocodile & few birds and all and also have a museum. The tree is spread over 4 acres. It is a major tourist attraction located 4 kilometers from Mahbubnagar city.

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, Nalgonda tourist places

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is popular in India and Asia because of its length. When the dam is opened at the time of rain, its beauty is worth seeing.

The height of this dam is 126 meters and it is 1 kilometer long. It was built in 1979 and now it has emerged as one of the major tourist of Telangana state. This dam is built in the Krishna River.

Kolanupak Swetamber Jain Mandir, Nalgonda tourist places

The Kulpakji temple is also known as Kolanupaka. It is a 2000 year old temple which is quite famous in Telangana and attracts devotees throughout the year. It is a historical place in the ancient Indian culture of Jainism. One time this place was a flourishing town with and was a prominent center of cultures and trade.

This is a very famous Jain temple and people travel to this place from far to visit the idols of Lord Rishabhanatha, Lord Neminatha, and Lord Mahavira at the same place. There are 3-4 more small Jain temples inside it.

Ethipothala Waterfall, Nalgonda tourist places

It is situated around 75kms from Nalgonda and 160kms drive from Hyderabad and 11kms from Nagarjuna Sagar dam. Once can make a one day trip to Nagarjuna Sagar and Ethipothala waterfall. It has an entry ticket of 20-/ to reach the view point.

You will be able to see the fall from a far distance, there is no access to go very near to the water falls. There is a food court inside the premises. July- October is the best time to visit the place. You can expect the better view during  monsoons or rainy season.

Nalgonda does not have an airport. Nearest airport is Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad(HYD) 80 km and Vijaywada airport(VGA) 175 km away. There are many regular trains to Nalgonda from other major cities of the state. Nalgonda Railway Station (NLDA) is well connected with other major railhead such as Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi, etc.
