Akbar’s palace and museum, built in 1570 AD, is counted among the strongest forts in Rajasthan. It was used as the meeting place of the Mughal Emperor Jahangir and Sir Thomas Roe, the British ambassador to the Mughal court. This palace was used as a place of residence for the emperor and his soldiers when they were in Ajmer. In 1908 it was converted into a museum, which houses many Hindu statues from the sixth and seventh centuries and beyond.
