Purkhoti Muktangan museum has been transformed into an attractive live model tourist centre that showcases the rich tradition of Chhattisgarh.

It also gives a good picturesque of the rich tribal folk culture both from the Bastar in south and Sarguja in the north. It shows the rich legacy of unexplored tribal culture.

Energy park Raipur Tourist Places

Mahamaya Temple Raipur Tourist Places

Mahamaya Temple in Raipur is located in the old fort area of the city. This ancient 11th century temple lying on the banks of River Khaaroon belongs to the Kalchuri era, has been renovated many times and is visited by many devotees daily. Nearby is the Samleswari temple dedicated to Goddess Samlai.

Mahamaya mandir is one of the oldest temples of Raipur city. This temple is located at mahamaya para , purana basti, Raipur. It is arround 4-5 km away from railway station.

This temple is very old and very big. This temple is dedicated to Maa Mahamaya. Mahamaya Devi has several forms (roops) and in this temple she has Maha Kali Devi Roop.

The garbh graha of the temple has tantric architecture. During Navratri there is lot of rush in the temple. During Navratri more than 10,000 sacred diyas burn for goddess for nine days.

This temple has lot of Jyoti kaksh where these diyas are kept. All nine days of Navratri, jagarata is organised. Parking place is available here but during Navratri there is rush for parking. All offerings to goddess such as Prasad, flowers, Dip etc are available at temple premises.

Swami Vivekanand Sarovar Raipur Tourist Places

Budha Talab is one of the largest water body situated in one of the oldest settlement areas of Purani Basti in the heart of Raipur. It is believed that Swami Vivekananda used to swim in this lake during his two-year stay at Raipur.

Recently, a 37-feet tall bronze statue of Vivekananda seated in lotus position was erected next to the lake.

It is surrounded by a lush green garden. Betel nut trees flank both sides of the narrow pathway that runs in between the lake. Colorful fountains in the midst of the lake add to the enchanting beauty.

Gandhi Udyan Park is situated in the heart of the Raipur city which extends till the famous Bhagat Singh Chowk. It is one of the oldest parks in Raipur city and has a very good location.

Situated at the roadside of G.E. road in Raipur it serves a healthy playing area for children, elders, youth and all the citizens. It has good plantation which provides soothing relief at summer times.

With a lot of natural vegetation spread over the park, the walking area is neatly tiled. There is also a playground where yoga classes are held early in the morning.

With a walking area of about 400 meters, it is an excellent place for a morning or evening walk. The park has a lot of greenery and is also quiet big.

There are swings for kids, open gym, and walking tracks apart from the lush grass lawns. It is right adjacent to the beautiful Gaurav Path and is an iconic garden. In the evenings of weekends, it is usually crowded.

Mahant Ghasidas Memorial Museum Raipur Tourist Places

Located near D.K.Hospital, the Museum was established in 1875 by Raja Mahant Ghasidas of Rajnandgaon.  The museum records the major events in the town’s history.

It has two floors with five galleries. The first floor has objects related to nature and its history containing various mammals, Snakes, and birds. There is also a huge library here.

This well- maintained museum boasts an impressive collection of tribal artefacts, inscriptions, coins, carvings, models, and other things related to anthropology and natural history.

There are five galleries spread on two floors and a vast library that you won’t be able to miss. Head over to an open-air restaurant located at the ground floor of the museum to experiment with cheap but good tribal food.

Doodhadhari Monastery and temple Raipur Tourist Places

The monastery and the temple is located in the southern part of Raipur city on the banks of an ancient river called Maharajbandh. This ancient temple dedicate to Lord Rama, was built in the mid of 17th century by King Jaitsingh.

The temple has beautiful murals. The monastery was named after Swami Balbhadra Das who only had ‘Doodh’ (milk) as his food. Burials of the former Mahants can also be seen here.

Hatkeswar Mahadev temple and Mahadev Ghat Raipur Tourist Places

The Mahadev ghat is located 5 kms from Raipur on the banks of river Kharun. The temple was built in 1402, by Hajiraj Naik during the rule of Bramhdeo Rai, son of the Kalchuri king Ramachandra.
