Mahamaya Temple in Raipur is located in the old fort area of the city. This ancient 11th century temple lying on the banks of River Khaaroon belongs to the Kalchuri era, has been renovated many times and is visited by many devotees daily. This temple has lot of Jyoti kaksh where these diyas are kept. All nine days of Navratri, jagarata is organised. Parking place is available here but during Navratri there is rush for parking. All offerings to goddess such as Prasad, flowers, Dip etc are available at temple premises.

Swami Vivekanand Sarovar Raipur Tourist Places

Budha Talab is one of the largest water body situated in one of the oldest settlement areas of Purani Basti in the heart of Raipur. It is believed that Swami Vivekananda used to swim in this lake during his two-year stay at Raipur.

Recently, a 37-feet tall bronze statue of Vivekananda seated in lotus position was erected next to the lake.

Gandhi Udyan Park is situated in the heart of the Raipur city which extends till the famous Bhagat Singh Chowk. It is one of the oldest parks in Raipur city and has a very good location.

Situated at the roadside of G.E. road in Raipur it serves a healthy playing area for children, elders, youth and all the citizens. It has good plantation which provides soothing relief at summer times.

With a lot of natural vegetation spread over the park, the walking area is neatly tiled. There is also a playground where yoga classes are held early in the morning.

With a walking area of about 400 meters, it is an excellent place for a morning or evening walk. The park has a lot of greenery and is also quiet big.

Located near D.K.Hospital, the Museum was established in 1875 by Raja Mahant Ghasidas of Rajnandgaon.  The museum records the major events in the town’s history.

Doodhadhari Monastery and temple Raipur Tourist Places

The monastery and the temple is located in the southern part of Raipur city on the banks of an ancient river called Maharajbandh. This ancient temple dedicate to Lord Rama, was built in the mid of 17th century by King Jaitsingh.

The temple has beautiful murals. The monastery was named after Swami Balbhadra Das who only had ‘Doodh’ (milk) as his food. Burials of the former Mahants can also be seen here.

Hatkeswar Mahadev temple and Mahadev Ghat Raipur Tourist Places
