Chashm-e-Shahi Garden is an ancient garden located in Srinagar which was established in 1632. It is the smallest Mughal garden in Srinagar which is 108 meters in length and 38 meters in width. Apart from this, this garden is also known as Royal Spring. The garden is divided into three parts with aqueducts, waterfalls and fountains.

The garden is located in the vicinity of Nehru Memorial Park, which offers a spectacular view of the Himalayas and Dal Lake. Many rare species of fruits and flowers are found here. The Pari Mahal, located atop the Chashme-e-Shahi Garden, was built in the 17th century by Dara Shikoh, the eldest son of the famous Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Pari Mahal is also known as fairy house or Quantilon. Dara Shikoh also built a Buddhist monastery here in honor of his Sufi tutor, Mullah Shah Badakhshi, which is currently turned into ruins.

Pari Mahal was formerly a center for learning astronomy and astrology. The total length and width of this garden is 122 meters and 62.5 meters respectively. Pari Mahal is located to the southwest of Dal Lake. There are 6 roofs in this flight. Like other gardens, Pari Mahal does not have a water supply.

Nishat Bagh is located on the eastern side of Dal Lake, which was built in 1633 by Hasan Asaf Khan, father of Mumtaz Mahal and brother of Noor Jahan. Nishat Bagh means garden of happiness. Rare species of flowers, Chinar tree and Cypress tree are also found in this garden.

This Mughal Garden is the largest terraced garden in the area. This garden is quite famous due to the beautiful fountains, large lawns and beautiful flowers located here. Shahjahan is said to have been the son-in-law of the famous Mughal emperor and Abdul Hasan Asaf Khan and was greatly impressed by the garden.

15 km from Shalimar Garden, Srinagar. Located far away is the most popular of all the Mughal Gardens in this city. The word Shalimar means – the abode of love. This garden is also known as Shalimar Bagh, Faiz Bakhsh, Garden of Char Minar and Farah Bakhsh. This garden was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619 AD for his Begum Noor Jahan.

The garden is divided into three terraced sections for various sponsorships. The outer garden Diwan-i-Aam, part of the middle garden Diwan-i-Khas or the Emperor’s Garden and the topmost part of the Garden was reserved for the royal women. The design of this garden is based on Chahar Bagh of Persia.

This garden is known for its Chinese Khanas or Arched Bottom, which is built in the water falls in the back of the garden, which is illuminated with oil lamps during the night. This light has a special effect on the waterfall, which makes the waterfall look magical.

Shankaracharya Temple is located at an altitude of 1100 feet above sea level on the surface of the city in Srinagar also known as Takht-e-Sulaiman which is situated on a hill. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the god of Hinduism. It is believed that this temple was built by King Gopadatya before 371 AD, after which the temple was named after the king.

It is the oldest temple in the valley of Kashmir. Later the name of the temple was changed from Gopadari to Shankaracharya because Adi Shankaracharya stayed at this place during his visit to Kashmir.

After some time, Dogra ruler Maharaja Gulab Singh had constructed stone stairs in the temple for the convenience of the devotees. This temple was electrified in 1925. Apart from being a religious place of Hindus, this temple also holds great archaeological importance.

Kheer Bhavani Temple is located in Tulla Mulla village, 27 km from Srinagar. There are poplar trees and streams of rivers around this temple, which add beauty to the place. The name of this temple is such that only one Indian sweet kheer and milk is offered by the devotees as prasad here.

Originally built in 1912 by Maharaja Pratap Singh in honor of the Hindu goddess Ragnya, this temple was rebuilt by Maharaja Hari Sing. The temple has a hexagonal waterfall which appears to be the goddess. Legend has it that Rama, the Hindu god, used this temple as a place of worship in his exile.

After the exile period ended, the Hindu god Hanuman was asked to relocate the idol of the goddess to Shadipora, where it is still located. Locals believe that kheer, which is normally white in color, turns black, indicating unexpected calamity.

A large number of devotees gather here on the eighth day of the full moon in the month of May. It is believed that on this auspicious day the water color of the goddess changes. Jyeshtha Ashtam and Shukla Paksha Ashtami are some of the major festivals celebrated in this temple
