It is on the way to Karaiyar Dam and almost 5 to 7 waterfall in an around. Agasthiyar Falls also called Papanasam Falls is located about 42 km from the nearest city Tirunelveli. As per Hindu legend, it is the place where sage Agasthya got a view of Shiva in his marriage costume. It is one of best place for natural waterfalls and consider as the Medicinal water. There are separate place for ladies and gents to taking bath and dress changing room. It is inside the Tiger reserve forest so permitted time for bath is 6AM to 6PM local time. Spacious parking area available. Snacks and soft drinks available.

This is one of the best waterfalls here in the Courtallam, Tirunelveli. Tourist can take bath here under the waterfalls. The total area is divided into two parts, one for ladies and the other for gents. There are many local shops available here where visitors can do the necessary shopping. One will get a chance to explore a lot variety of local foods available here. This is wonderful place in season time. The best session starts from the month of July to September. Waterfalls namely Five falls, Main falls, Small falls, Tiger falls, Old falls are in Courtallam.

The Manimuthar is about half an hour’s drive from Ambasamudram. The waterfall is inside a reserve forest give additional enjoyment to the tourist. There is an entrance fee but one will not be allowed inside after 5.00 pm. Splendid sight of the water gushing down the slope into a bathing area and then filling a deep trench and flowing away down the hillside. The water in the trench is said to be 90 ft deep. There is a diving platform but I was given to understand by the guard there that tourist are not allowed to dive into the trench. The waterfall and the bathing are is safe with watch and ward staff keeping a protective eye on the tourists.

The Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve was shaped in 1988 by combining Kalakad Wildlife Sanctuary and Mundanthurai Wildlife Sanctuary, both recognized in 1962. The continuation of “Project Tiger” in Kalakkad Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve for fiscal year 2010-2011, at the cost of Rs. 19433,000, was approved by the National Tiger Conservation Authority on 28 August 2010. Part of Agasthyamalai biosphere reserve and called the river sanctuary of Tamil Nadu because of the 14 rivers inside it. It is a beautiful reserve with archaeological structures present inside the boundaries. An aquarium for the display of famous fish species especially the indigenous and endangered ones is a place worth visiting. Preferred to have your own transport because u only have gov buses going up to aaryar dam from Papanasam depot which starts from 6:30am. If you are visiting on a weekend and raining season frequency will be very very less better higher some cab from Papanasam it is much easier for u to visit all nearby places. If you need a budget stay visit KMRTC it is tirunelveli’s gov forest website. If you are going as a team you have Dormentary available, if u are a family then you may try bungalow near Lake etc. It is cheap and safe place to stay in a tiger reserve forest. Food will be cooked and served as ur order. Places to visit: Aarayar dam, Agasthiyar falls and temple, Vana pechi amman temple, sorimuthu ayyanar temple (very ancient & the travel in forest will be worth it) all the above places can be visited in a day. Manimuthar river is the largest tributary of Thamirabarani river. The river exactly descends into the foothills of Western Ghats, to the reservoir. Tourist can experience a great forest and mountain ride towards this falls, before that we need to get clearance from the KMTR forest officers to go into the forests. Safety is very necessary while bathing at there (river falls into the pool which is more than 80 feet of depth. The falls is on the way to Manjolai estate. Monkeys are another big pain here and are quite aggressive so keep an eye on food you carry along they will wait for opportunity to snatch and run. It is a  small but a enjoyable waterfall. One can also visit this place on the way to Agasthiyar falls. Mostly the falls is not much congested so visit early morning to avoid crowd. Best time to visit is during rainy and winter season of southern region of Tamilnadu.

It is a part of the Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve. Tourist has to take boat ride for 20 minutes from the Kariyar Dam to reach this place. The flow of cascading waterfall is very high. The water from this falls contain medicinal properties.
